More about the NoodleBoard
Q. What encryption does it use?
A. NoodleBoad uses a JavaScript implementation of the Blowfish encryption algorithm which was designed by Bruce Schneier.
The actual implementation we are using was written by and is available from www.farfarfar.com
Q. How and when does it update?
A. At the moment it refreshes every minute while the dashboard is showing, also when you hide and show the dashboard or flip the widget. If you change the contents of the NoodleBoard it will encrypt and send it’s data within about 3 seconds of your last keystroke.
Q. What on earth did you build it for?
A. We thought it would be cool.
We use short-lived task lists a lot in our software development and this seemed to suit that.
Q. What sort of server you runnin’?
A. Er, um, well, hopefully one that’ll stand up to the punishment. The server side is implemented using EJB3.0 and runs in a hot-rodded version of JBoss running on Fedora Core.
Q. Why is it a dashboard widget?
A. If your desktop is anything like mine you already know.
Q. Are you planning to do a Konfabulator/windows/linux/web/x11/text version?
A. Maybe/No/No/Maybe/No/No - for the moment.
Q. Explain the whole pin/password thing again, will you please?
A. Ok. The combination of your PIN and the name of your board uniquely identify you to us.
Your password is used as the key to encipher and decipher the contents of your board.
We never need (or want) to know your password.
Q. Is it free?
A. Yes, it’s free. If you like the service we’d love you to make a donation via. PayPal using the button below.
Q. What do you have planned for future releases?
A. Actually, some really cool stuff, but we don’t want to give too much away. As long as we don’t run into too many problems with the beta version you can expect an update soon.
Q. I have a comment/suggestion/question who can I talk to?
